Once again, both the pro stock & the sportsman cars were running fast. In the 150, we won our heat race and started the 150 on the pole. The car was handling great and we managed to stay out front for the first 36 laps before we had an altercation with a lapped car. Still with lots of laps remaining, we were able to get back up to 7th by the halftime break, and back into 2nd by lap 90. However, running side by side with Brent Roy for the next 25-30 laps proved to be more than the front tires & brakes could handle and we eventually slipped back & settled in to run 4th. A restart with 3 to go ended up shuffling us back to a finishing position of 6th. Congrats to Dan McNeill for putting on a great show at the end, and taking home his first win.
In the 250, Leon qualified in his first try by taking home 4th in the heat race. This was great news as we didn't have to live through the stress of the consi & hooligan race. Later in the evening, the car was running well but a couple of flat tires caused us to lose 2 laps in the pits. Just past halfway, Leon had to bring it to the pits for the remainder of the race when the engine began to over heat after some cars stacked up on a restart.
That wraps up another successfull season at Speedway 660. We improved our points standing finish from our rookie season & were once again able to take home a checkered flag before the season ran out. A strong run in the 150 has us looking forward to 2010. Also, we were able to get the pro stock running after taking a season off and are optimistic about the improved performance it was showing as well.
