Last weekend we made our first Maritime Pro Stock Tour start in Halifax as part of the field for the CAT 250. Practice was a little bit of a tough start. We had a flat RF in one practice, blew a brake line in another practice and struggled to match tires in the 3rd - but we didn't hit the wall :)
When it came to qualifying, I played it too safe and probably left a couple of tenths on the track. In the heat race, I just tried to settle in behind local sportsman standout Russell Smith and try to learn something about the racing line and took home a 5th.
In the feature, we couldnt make up much ground from our 20th place starting spot and went down a lap to the leaders Smith & Rowe early on at around lap 30. After giving way to the top 5 we settled in and ran competitively until the halfway break (caution free). In the second half, we restarted in 16th and settled in and ran the race out - this time, we DID hit the wall a couple of times before finishing out in the 16th spot. All in all, it was a fun day and we definitely learned alot about how we'll approach our next trip to Scotia Speedworld.
